Perennial Peanuts

Perennial Peanuts

aka arachis pintoi, pintoi peanuts, wild peanuts,

Tired of mowing? The amazingly tough perennial peanut can replace your entire lawn - or parts of it - with beauty and style. The dense foliage of mature plants will crowd out most weeds. As a deep border for a garden bed, perennial peanut creates a formal look, and it can also fill in around landscape boulders.

A close relative of the common peanuts, they don't produce edible seeds, but their vivid, yellow flowers are tasty and have a nutty flavour.

GROW

Propagate : cuttings , seedings
Light : Sunny
Water : Once or twice a day
Soil : good drainage
Fertilizer : not necessary

For tight (almost instant lawn) plant roughly 2ft apart. If given 3 months to creep, you can plant about 6ft apart.

USES

Apart from being a beautiful almost whimsical lawn, the flowers are edibles and often use by chefs around the world for garnishing, salad and plating. It has a nutty earthy taste.
